Kokeshis are japanese wooden dolls, probably inspired by russian matrioshkas. They are soooo adorable. My favorite are those that come in rounded shapes but shapes and sizes vary a lot. The important thing is that they are cute

China also has a wooden lucky dolls tradition that we mostly know through the miniature charms some of us used to wear in our hair when we were children. In French they are called “puces” and I’ve been looking for them for more one a year now. I’m not the only nostalgic of these little charms, as you can see, someone even decided to reedit them (but at too high a price for me). And, tadam !… I’ve found them !!! The thing is I can only order them in large quantities but I’ll find something to do with them and chiyogami paper, for sure. Or, I can also resell them if I can’t use them all by myself

Les kokeshis sont des poupées en bois japonaises, tirant probablement leur origine des matrioshkas russes. Elles sont vraiment mimi. Mes préférées sont en forme de galet mais il en existe de toutes formes, tailles et styles. L’important, c’est leur degré de kawaiitude, généralement élevé

La Chine a également une tradition de poupées en bois porte-bonheur que certaines d’entre nous connaissent surtout via leur version miniature, les “puces”. J’en cherche des vraies, des chinoises depuis quelques temps déjà et je ne suis pas la seule… Une réedition made in France existe (mais à des prix prohibitifs un peu quand même). Et, tadam !… J’en ai finalement trouvé !!! La seule chose c’est que je peux seulement en commander de grandes quantités mais je vais certainement trouver quelque chose à en faire avec une touche de chiyogami. Ou alors, j’en revends le surplus, histoire de relancer la mode

I’m a pattern freak, that’s it… Everything started at a fine hotel in Amsterdam. Ohoh, what have we here, a shower curtain with red dots, fine. Oh and also a cute lace curtain, sweet… but that was only the beginning…

After that, I started seeing dots patterns everywhere, but not just any. Red and white and mostly white dots on red…

I almost got those bags for my bike

The climax was this shop, located at the Spui tram station… No comment.

Is that me ? The Netherlands ? what’s the matter with that pattern ???
